The Outlaw Cube

The Origins

I started making the cube about a year after I came back to Magic The Gathering. I wanted it to be fun to play but to also reflect my journey through Magic. I built it with only cards I had on hand, which meant it was originally almost every M14, Theros Block and M15 card. As time went on I added to it and slipped in a few singles I picked up along the way. Originally it was went to be a Peasant Cube (no rares or mythics) but the games weren’t as fun so I started chucking in rares and mythics and raising the power level.

Design Philosophy

The cube is unpowered 560 cards. The reason for the weird number is because I didn’t want each game to play out the same and I wanted to be able to play with “fringe” cards that people normally don’t play with. Unpowered because I never liked broken interactions.I’m also trying to keep it to post-M14 to fully encapsulate my current journey through Magic.
